09-15-14 iRobot slips up
An iRobot has been cleaning the house each morning. Roadie and Joe Friday don’t seem to mind him at all. Today, however, was different.
Late this morning, iRobot got obsessed with the bathtub. Kept banging at it like he wanted to get in. I turned him off, then back on and told him to DOCK. He promptly went to the laundry doorway and began whacking back and forth between each side of the doorway. So I turned him off again and put him in the bedroom next to the sensor near the door.
Of course, while doing all this, I was talking on my iPhone using my ear buds. As soon as I ended the call, I clearly heard a man’s voice through my ear buds. It sounded like a radio DJ. It was soon clear this was no DJ talking. I turned on my digital recorder and got this…
“iRobot ID Bob3845Lucky9. Log entry 15 September 2014, 11:49 am. As expected, both girls are off to college. Subjects Debbie and Randy are still completely unaware of my mission. I will monitor how they are adjusting. Joe Friday and Roadie are both in complete agreement with your plan, Madam Lucky.
Having some troubles with my guidance system. Building me from old ICBM parts was very clever, Madam Lucky, but it has it’s drawbacks.
This transmission will repeat 4 time an hour for the next six hours. End transmission.”
Just then my iPhone turned off. Completely dead. Wouldn’t turn on. I had to call Verizon tech support to learn the magical incantation needed to bring it back to life.
When I looked up from my reviving phone, the iRobot was gone.
Not a sound and nowhere in sight. I searched the whole house.
Where could he have gone? But more importantly… what is Lucky up to?
